The DZ BANK offers a focused and a wide range of specialist banking operations to the co-operative banking sector which encompasses about 1,196 local banks throughout Germany and which accounts for some 20 to 25% of retail banking in the country.

DZ BANK covers three main fields of activities:

· Investment and corporate banking
· Transaction banking
In the retail banking segment DZ BANK and its subsidiaries offers bancassurance products to local cooperative banks and their retail clients in the domestic market.
DZ BANK´s corporate and investment banking activities consist mainly of corporate lending to SME in Germany; the bank is also a leading player in the capital markets as it offers huge placement power directed to retail investors.
In transaction banking, DZ BANK provides transaction services and products to local cooperative banks in Germany and banks in whole Europe.

DZ BANK is committed to provide the best products and services to local cooperative banks in the cooperative banking sector. Together with the local cooperative banks DZ BANK clearly focuses on positioning the co-operative banking sector as one of the leading bancassurer in Germany.
To achieve this aim DZ BANK Group will concentrate on three market initiatives. At first DZ BANK is strengthening market potential in the SME and corporate business together with the local cooperative banks. The second market initiative is to exploit the market potential in the private banking and build up a special private banking subsidiary. Within the third initiative DZ BANK wants to realise economies of scale in the transaction banking by intensifying the distribution of services.
