Banco Cooperativo Español was established in July 1990. Member Banks are made up of 72 Spanish Cooperative Banks and one German credit institution (DZ Bank). To carry out our activitites, BCE has two branches in Madrid and different subsidiaries.
The Caja Rural Group represents 80% of all banks in Spain´s cooperative sector. In global terms, it employs 83% of the workforce in this area, accounting for 91% of the branch offices, 67% of the profits, 75% of deposits, 78% of loans and 75% of assets. At present, the Caja Rural Group is the fifth largest banking Group in Spain with total assets of 59.01 bn, more than 7 million customers, 3,600 offices and more than 12,500 employees.
Thanks to a flexible and efficient organisation, Banco Cooperativo is fulfilling its goal to improve the capacity to offer a range of financial products and services to the complete satisfaction of its member banks, creating added value and meeting all saving and investment needs.
To continue to do this, however, it is important to keep growing in order to achieve the integrated quality in service that will allow BCE to respond to the demands of its member banks. To this end, it is adapting processes and structures in order to find solutions in this ever-changing environment.
In its constant effort to create stronger links and greater loyalty, BCE has specialised its sales processes and improved global relations with customers, as it considers this the best way to obtain a greater share of the market.
Given its special relevance, impact and strategic character, the Group would like to highlight the implementation of its main concern so far: the Quality Programme, with the aim of providing customers with improved service and advice.
As of 31 December 2007, Banco Cooperativo Español was managing 54 investment funds with EUR 2.100 million assets through its management company Gescooperativo, S.A., S.G.I.I.C.
These products are distributed throughout the Caja Rural branch network and through its own branches.
These funds are aimed at increasing and diversifying the Group´s offerings to the benefit of Caja Rural customers.
